Students may enter the program any semester during the year. The
Institute accepts students with any undergraduate degree from an
accredited school. There is no specific undergraduate major preferred
and no prerequisite courses for admissions.
A 3.1 cumulative grade point average is generally required. Previous
work experience is preferred.
The Graduate Management Admissions Test (www.gmat.org) is required.
The average GMAT score of accepted candidates is 580 to 620. To
register for the GMAT, visit their website. Preparation can be invaluable
in increasing scores. Take advantage of publications, software,
and community resources to assist you in becoming familiar with
the GMAT format and content.
The College of Business Administration Office of Academic Assistance
processes admissions applications in approximately four to six weeks
after receiving all required application materials.
An interview with an Institute faculty member is required prior
to final admission. This interview gives applicants an opportunity
to learn more about the degree options and the field of health administration.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, however there are
cutoff dates for each semester for receipt of materials. They are,
May 1 for fall semester, September 1 for spring semester, and February
1 for summer semester.
Academic Common Market
The Institute of Health Administration at Georgia State is fortunate
to have its programs approved by the Academic Common Market of the
Southern Regional Education Board. This allows residents of some
member states, upon approval of the state ACM coordinator, to attend
Georgia State at in-state tuition rates. This is a tremendous benefit
to students from currently approved states, which include Arkansas,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina,
Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Financial Assistance
Georgia State University's financial aid program assists with
a limited number of scholarships and low-interest loans. Students
who are ineligible for these programs may be able to borrow funds
from their local banks under the Guaranteed Student Loan Program.
The Financial Aid Office can be reached at 404-651-2227.
In addition, Institute faculty are happy to assist students in finding
appropriate part-time and full-time positions in the Atlanta healthcare
community. Graduate research assistant positions are also available
on a limited basis throughout the college and include a stipend
and tuition waiver.
