Research Interests and Areas of Expertise

Distinguishing Features. In general, the health services research program at Georgia State University can be characterized as an applied, quantitative, fact-based learning organization that uses strong industry linkages to help document the evolution of healthcare and health services research. The research program has a number of distinguishing features that, in the aggregate, differentiate it from other programs:

  1. Emphasis on Strong Health Industry Linkages
    The research program continues to enhance and maintain strong industry ties. These relationships help to keep the Research program abreast of industry issues and create a forum that can be used to voice opinions and provide an objective, external perspective.

  2. Focus on Generic Industry-wide Research Issues
    The research program's principals are well-recognized for their contributions in health services research and continue a collaborative focus involving academicians from those fields most appropriate to the area of research under investigation or study.

  3. Employs Technology as a Core Competency
    The research program uses technology to increase operational efficiency and the scope of our education, research, and industry initiatives.

  4. Functions as a Learning Organization
    The research program will operate as a learning organization that develops, documents, and disseminates knowledge for both internal and external users.

  5. Collaborates with Academic and Industry Leaders
    The research program continues its extensive affiliations with several academic, industry, and government organizations, based upon its position in a leading College of Business.

  6. Incorporates a National and International Perspective
    The research program responds to the increasing global nature of health services research and the need to balance local, regional, and national knowledge with a global vision.
